PROMETHIADE PROJECTPROMETHIADE is an international project of a big scope initiated by the cooperation of Turkey (Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture), Germany (Ruhr 2010 European Capital of Culture), Greece (Athens & Epidauros Festival - Hellenic Festival) and supported by Armin Laschet, Minister for Intergenerational Affairs, Family, Women and Integration of North Rhine-Westphalia. The project consists of 3 bilingual productions based on the concept of the Greek tragedy “Prometheus Bound” directed by 3 well known artists from Turkey, Germany and Greece to be performed in World Heritage properties in each country. As a mythic figure and the founder of the beginning of the European culture Prometheus lies in the centre of the PROMETHIADE project.The play titled “How to Forget in 10 Steps (Anti-Prometheus)” written and directed by Şahika Tekand from Turkey is produced by Germany/Essen Stiftung Zollverein in partnership with Studio Players and Istanbul Municipal Theatre, the play directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos from Greece is produced by Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture and the play by Rimini Protokoll from Germany is produced by the Hellenic Festival.The performances of the plays taking place in the project will be realized in Athens/Hellenic Festival, Istanbul and Essen during the month of July. |
